The garden is open for the National Garden Scheme (NGS) which raises money for many excellent charitable causes

Welcome to Chesham Bois House the garden of which extends to about 3 acres. Chesham Bois House - Open garden in aid of charities It is normally very peaceful as the tree lined drive between Bois Lane and the house shuts out most noise except for the occasional plane from Heathrow overhead and of course the birds.

The garden is made up of a variety of spaces. There are two long vistas, one facing east and the other south which consists of a gazebo, a small ornamental canal and rill and in the distance is a new meadow area with tall grasses on either side leading to a seat in the arbour. The whole garden can be viewed from many different aspects which contains the same elements but looks very different.

The house is surrounded on all 4 sides by the gardens and on the north side is the walled gardenChesham Bois House - Open garden in aid of charities which contains varieties of salvias and plants which love the dry conditions. On the sheltered south side of the house the terrace is planted with succulents including echeverias and aeoniums

An orchard with a few of the old apple trees remaining has now been planted with some young trees noted for their bark and in early spring is a mass of snowdrops. A variety of old and new trees including two mulberry trees, black and white (grown from seed), some of which are toparied, handsome copper beeches, and a hornbeam which used to be the tallest hornbeam in Buckinghamshire but sadly is now the tallest dead hornbeam in Buckinghamshire.

Most of the garden debris , except thick branches and trees, are composted in 8 large bins which are an invaluable soil improver and the bins are a cosy home to the grass snakes (harmless).

There is a short walk across the 300 year old bowling green and through a small wood which was originally part of the formal gardens laid out in the French style.
